  • December Weight Loss Encouragement

Perhaps we should chalk December up to "try not to gain any" .

I'm on my 2nd week straight of 6 days at the gym (7 actual trips b/c I go twice on Monday).

S: 4 miles on elliptical, 25 minutes weights
    M: 1 hour pilates / swim 1km
T: 2 miles on elliptical, 1 mile on treadmill, 25 minutes weights
    W: 1 hour pilates
    Th: 1 hour aqua aerobics
    F: 1 hour pilates

I'm down about 6 more pounds in a month - up to about 54 total.

I'm on the sidelines for the rest of December. I was doing great but I noticed a drop in my milk production. So my goal is now to maintain milk without gaining. I gained 55 pounds w P, but need to lose 65 to get where I was before K. I'm down 40 already so I'm doing pretty well for 3 months post-partum.

Shakti, I'm so impressed w your gym dedication! I hope to get there someday! And woot on the job news Lily!!

It's weird. I say that I don't have more energy, but I suspect that I *have* more energy and it just gets used at the gym. The biggest change to how I feel came when I stopped eating fast food (but I only realized it when I had breakfast at McDonalds this summer on a road trip and instantly felt like crap). I'm fortunate that I hadn't yet experienced ill health effects (diabetes, etc.) specifically attributed to being overweight, and I've always had good cholesterol levels, etc. At the moment I'm just sore.

Holy Crap. So impressed by all your dedication! Makes me look pretty lazy! I'm trying to get back into working out again as I didn't the last three weeks. And then its so hard to resist all the holiday treats!

I'm finally fitting back into my clothes from the weight I gained last holiday and the move..... I really don't want to gain it back again!

Still have a dress size to go to get to prebaby weight. I think that in my mid thirties, it might just be here to stay. I'm honestly at a point where I just want to be healthy and able to still be as active as I want to be. I'm sure that it doesn't help that my women's running group meets at the bakery on Saturdays. :eyeroll: I'm pretty sure that carb loading doesn't include sugar cookies.
In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

Yay! Way to hit the gym--that's impressive!

The work weight loss program finished and I only lost 4 lbs total. I do feel like I learned quite a bit though, and I feel like I can actually do this for the first time. I'm mad at myself for the 10 lbs I gained around the wedding--if it weren't for those I would be getting somewhere instead of just trying to fit back into my normal wardrobe again...on the bright side I'm back in two pairs of pants that were a no-go a month ago!

My biggest victory has been this running class. I NEVER thought I would say this but...I actually LIKE running. I have to get my butt up at 6 am tomorrow to run 5 miles in 32 degree windy weather with the group and I'm actually looking forward to it. I could see myself sticking with this for awhile, even after the half-marathon in March. I'm even entertaining the thought of trying for the White Rock Marathon in a year...

I have pretty much given up on December. Last night my mom bought a treadmill and it should be delivered before Christmas. Hopefully having easy access to the treadmill will help be more active. After all of the holiday parties are done, I will definitely be cleaning up my act food-wise. I am tired of the extra 10-15 pounds I am carrying around.

I am just trying not to gain and run when I can. Starting the 1st of the year, I will hit the gym hard and start counting calories again. Dh is going to join this time too!

I've gained almost 10 pounds since moving from Chicago - all in my thighs and hips. I only have a few pairs of pants that fit, and only 1 pair of jeans. I need to start eating better (like no muffin for b-fast everyday) and working out more.

So it seems me talking about running and training for the half-marathon has a "Wait-I-am-definitely-more-athletic-than-her-got-to-compete" effect:

--My DH has asked for running shoes for Christmas and is seriously considering doing my company's track team with me in the summer, as well as running a 5k with me. (He is in crazy good shape, though) He's spontaneously started going on runs, even though he "hates running."

--A friend of mine that also runs told me today she is going to train for the half as well.

--A male coworker/friend (who runs track) who previously told me he would never run anything longer than 6 miles (because it hurts too much) also signed up for the same half.

--Another male coworker/friend who was ambivalent about doing a 5k with a group of us is rounding up everyone for a Jan. 5k.

Sure, I probably cant claim every bit of it, but I'm loving this!

Brandi--you can take credit. Your thread back in September (I think), inspired me to get going!

I'm 1 pound away from my goal weight (at ww) but its such a tough time of year... its so hard because I am SO close but there are so many holiday treats around. Gonna try and get back on the wagon tomorrow... I want to get to that goal weight so I can stop paying for my ww membership!
