Dh is on the kick about blood sugar spiking. So after dinner I can not have dessert (cookies, 100 cal bar or anything) for 2 hours until your blood sugar lowers from dinner. He says that when your blood sugar is up after dinner, then eat sugar, it stores it as fat... WTF!!

I am not sure why he is so concerned about it either. But I will say is his defense, I did ask for help with my diet. He is normally never controlling or demanding at all, for fear I would beat him hahaha just kidding

It's safest (in our house, anyway) to not comment on food choices. It ALWAYS makes the commenter look like an asshole. And then the commentee is pissed and won't be putting out.Last edited by diggitydot; 03-11-2011, 09:52 AM.

I would purposefully eat dessert tomorrow night. Seriously, that theory makes no sense at all.Tara

There's helpful, and then there's demeaning. Make sure he knows the difference between the two.
I'm pretty sensitive about men telling women how to be, so maybe I just need to slink away before I get super heated.
Brandi, wanting to live a healthy lifestyle and make healthy choices does not mean that your DH needs to become the food police.

I don't understand his logic. Living with a diabetic has taught me that the body metabolizes the sugar (or any carb) better if they are eaten at one time- so 3 meals and 1 snack. It's worse to have a cookie/dessert right before you go to bed I thought. Not only for metabolism but for just quality of sleep- the spike in sugar typically takes your body 2 hours to wear off....
Anyway, just use your app (Lise it or whatever) and add the calories from your dessert. I always give myself at least 100 calories of desserts a day lol. Could bs why my weight is plateaued but dh would not dream to comment. The only thing a dh can say is this:
"honey you look amazing to me. I only want you to be happy"
Have him learn that line. When you ask for help with a diet, he can repeat it back to you. He won't be your calorie counting buddy, but that's ok right?Peggy
Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

Yea I now know what a mistake it was to ask him to hold me accountable for my eating habits. It just creates hard feelings. I have really been trying so hard, Running 2-3 miles and day and a restricted calorie count. I just have such a sweet tooth!!
