    Chest pain after race?

    So one thing about today's race is bothering me...

    After I finished, I had pretty intense chest "tightness" and pain that caught me off guard for about 10 minutes, exactly like this person experienced (Yup--I've consulted Dr. Google):

    It didn't surprise me too much as that is the longest I have ever run by 3 miles and my max heart rate was 10 BPM higher than I have ever recorded. Still, it bothered me a bit because it felt so strong and unfamiliar and made me a bit unsteady. I also did a lot of coughing in the next thirty minutes, but I have no idea if that was related or not.

    Should I not worry about it or check it out? I had a weird arrhythmia thing going out about a year ago (I attributed it to the stress of the wedding and haven't had any issues since) so I worry a little bit.

    Maybe check with your doctor when you get a chance. Do you have asthma or exercise-induced asthma? Anyway, I hope it doesn't keep you from running, you seem to be doing great!

        Yep, make an appointment and get it checked out. It's likely nothing but better to be safe than sorry. Keep us posted.

          Get it checked. There are tests that can be done to determine if you have asthma.
