  • May Challenge

Alright ladies (and gents)! We have started a May 2011 challenge forum in the health and fitness section. Start a thread and add to it each time you exercise by posting the number of minutes you have exercised and the exercise you did. We will tally this at the end of the month and the winner will receive a gift certificate to Amazon.com for $20!

    Happy exercising!

HA. It ebbs and flows, baby. I'm back on the wagon at the moment, but May is a LONG month.

Are the amount of times you exercise what counts or the minutes?

I've got no shot, but I'm still gonna try to get my exercise in 4 times a week.

I don't need the gift card. I wouldn't want to win, but me up against Kelly in an exercise battle is like a slug crawling on a treadmill that's at 12 mph. I'm pretty sure the slug's going under the back of the treadmill, and will end up as a pile of squished slug juice.

I'm in, but I'm also slug juice.

I'm going to throw in a $20 gift card for this month's most improved. Whatever you are working on - weight, distance, number of days you work out, etc. Post where you are now with respect to your fitness goals in your thread and tell us how far you've gone at the end of May.

Darling, your flattery is kind, but unwarranted. I'm a couch potatoe with a running problem. Further, we all run our own race in this life and have our own list of strenghts and frailties.

Don't underestimate yourself. I just ran a half marathon with a 43 year old mom who had never run before this past September. She complained to her family doctor that ye ol metabolism wasn't what it used to be. He opined that at her age she would have to eat 1/4 to 1/3 less in the coming years to maintain her weight. She decided that that wasn't going to happen. Her hubby purchased her a gift certificate with a personal trainer for Chrismtas, she signed up for a local couch to 5K progam, and made the commitment to meet us at the bakery to run every Saturday morning. (Yes the irony of our meeting spot doesn't escape me).

Seriously, you can do anything if you set your mind to it.

I wish I could join you all as I'm an avid runner but I've twisted my ankle and busted up my knee falling down the stairs at work the other day. The pain was so bad I laid there face planted and felt like I was going to vomit. Never had that happen before doing a belly flop. It took awhile to peel myself off the floor. Now it's taking a month to heal, silly me. Ugh. It's very frustrating.

I wish all those in the May challenge the best though!

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there.
