  • Half Marathon!

Just signed up for a half marathon in November! And now I have told people so I actually have to do it
I have been on a fitness kick this last month. I joined a gym and have been going often because there isn't a lot else to do when it's 100 degrees and we don't know anyone in town. The gym has a great daycare that DS loves and DD tolerates if I get the timing right I also feel like I need something for me, sometime to focus on other than the kids right now. So this is it. I have signed up for a 12 week training with a local running store because I don't really know what I'm doing. I have only run 10k before and that was pre-kids. I'm grateful that DH's fellowship schedule will allow me to make most of the Tuesday evening and Saturday morning training sessions (would have been impossible in residency) and that the $200 that this will cost is no longer unaffordable. I'm excited

Good for you, I keep telling myself that I should have a goal like that but haven't been able to bring myself to sign up for it!

            Good luck!

Sooner I saw your half marathon thread again after I posted this. Will probably aim for a similar run/walk. Honestly I was looking for maybe a 5 or 10k but then heard about the marathon and the running store training and couldn't get it out of my head!

Good for you! As a person who previously hated running I can say that it takes a while and training for a half but it is motivating, gratifying and enjoyable (eventually.). I ran the whole way cuz once I stop to walk I can't seem to start again. I was uber slow, but that's what worked for me.

Good luck and way to do something for YOU!

Haha I found out I was pregnant the day after the race! Granted, it wasn't unplanned, but be careful...

Now I can say I ran a half pregnant though!
