Love Pilates.m I am taking privates every Wednesday morning from an instructor in training which is way less expensive! It is relaxing, but can definitely kick your but.

I'm thinking of adding a 45 min session of Pilates after my 45 min spin class-- would I be too tired for Pilates then? After soon my legs are tired mostly.

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

It might actually feel really good as a wind down from spinning, I would try it. You can always walk out if it's too much!

ITA - try them all and see what you like best. In addition, instructors DO matter - their style can totally change a class. So try different ones for the same class if you can. It is such an individual decision. For example I hate, hate mat pilates but just love the reformer and chair pilates. I also love yoga but I absolutely have to have an instructor that will walk around and make sure your alignment is correct and will modify each position if necessary. For example, if you were starting out and couldn't do the tree pose, he/she should have found a modification that would have been equally beneficial while you worked up to tree. I am also going to the gym and doing cross-fit for my cardio. I think most bootcamps kind of have a similar exercise set up. I have to brag that while the men are doing push-ups on the floor, I can do them with each hand on a balance ball which I attribute to yoga and pilates....and these guys would never be caught dead in such classes.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Depends. I wouldn't at first because right now you are trying to figure out what you like. If your legs are tired and pilates instructor decides to do a lot of leg work, they may be shot. For example, I went to yoga after cross-fit the other day and noticed that my muscles were too fatigued to do some of the poses - I could not hold them as long and my balance was off. It was a good session because I got a good stretch but if I was going to try the class for the first time, I would have walked away frustrated.

Since you already do spin and weights and running, I think Pilates or Yoga would be the best additions It'll help stretch your muscles/ work them in their length versus the contraction that occurs with free weights and running motions.

I would add in Pilates and yoga on alternate days to get the most out of your workouts. I love pilates on the equipment (the Cadillac is my fav), unfortunately there is not enough time or funds to do it on a regular basis right now. There are different types of pilates instruction, those who have trained in Fletcher Pilates I have found to be the best instructors. The Romana's instructors are good too but include less specific breathing. Have fun trying new classes!

I loved Pilates and wish I could afford more of the classes (and the schedule doesn't work with the kids). I would recommend it 2 times a week if you can. I also love my Zumba and step class. I tend to work harder than the instructor but that's what's great about the classes is that you can alter the level of intensity to your own comfort level.
