That looks like so much fun!!! We have a zombie run planned here for October; I was SO looking forward to it. I love that they (whoever "they" is, lol) are coming up with all these fun ideas for races.

That's cool TigerLily and madeintaiwan! I saw the zombie run one BonBon and I don't think I could do it.

I'm supposed to start training for the Color Run on Monday doing the Couch to the 5K. I've gotten so out of shape. Ugh. They changed the date on me for the one in Portland from August 18th to September 29. I haven't changed my vacation dates yet either because I'm kind of locked in with schedules. A lot of people are taking vacation off in August as it's a beautiful time to catch the last drops of summer. Plus the Color Run at the end of September is getting into the start of the cold rainy season here but it is the day after my birthday so maybe I'll do a weekend trip. They are still open for registration. I'll have to ask the Minister of Home Finances if we can do it for my birthday first. We might have to see what kind of birthday bash the budget allows for this year. It's not a big birthday year either but next year I'm 35 and I want to do something big for it. After I turned 30 I started only really celebrating my birthday every 5 years so 35 is next and then I march on into 40. I'm not one to stay 29 forever and still celebrating. Give me the fine lines, wrinkles and gray hairs with grace and ease please.

You should definitely try to do it! It was a blast. I did Couch to 5k too, well I did most of it. At one point it goes from jog 10 minutes to jog 25 minutes and I never quite made that transition. It also happen to fall on a week when it was 107 degrees here so it was a little rough.
But you know what I realized? Even if I had been able to run the entire 5k, which I think I MIGHT have been able to do with the amount of adrenaline, we came to a stop for the color stations! You slow down to a crawl, especially when people decide to roll around in the street or want to repeat colors. Anyway, it was nice to have some mini breaks, and it was one of my favorite things I have ever done.

So for the most color crawl at the color stations. Got it! Dh is having knee issues so he won't go train with me. Even though we have amazing paths here being Track town, USA and home of the pre-Olympic trials I'm too scared to go by myself. It's probably more safe in other cities. I've just seen too much crime on the trails and it typically involved female individuals on their own, doesn't matter the time of day it is. Maybe I'll get some pepper spray and take a cell phone?

Dh also doesn't recommend I start training during fasting times. Which means nighttime but I don't know the rules on that in the parks. Though it is summer time and people are out late in the streets. I think he's concerned about the heat and the long hours fasting though and not getting enough water. At night it's nice and cool and we can go walking after we eat iftar.

The Minister of Finance would rather spend money on other things than a birthday weekend trip to run or walk in a big city and have color splashed on us. He's suggested a day trip to the beach, or a dinner out on the town. Yay know things for a date type event and not a lets celebrate a life event in the last year of your early thirties because if we celebrate every little thing it starts to add up and makes it seem insignificant. Did that just make sense?

Grumble, grumble. Whatever, I'm determined I'm still getting my Birthday celebration this year even if I have to wait until December and have a "couples photo shoot" for Christmas cards this year instead of the do it yourself amateur point and clicks. We haven't had professional couples photos since the religious services wedding in 2009. I told him we're going to do something big to celebrate life because we get the opportunity to live it. We're alive! We get to live and not act like we're getting so old already. We're still young and can do fun things.

Now I'm thinking about doing the color run myself in Portland and have strangers take pictures of me and how fun it is!
