I just registered to the site and I'm probably a little late but who knows someone else might get ring worm and need a cure. I also had it one time so I googled it and to my surprise found that yeast infection medicine works for it. so off to the store i went and it worked!!!

Soooo just in case anyone is fascinated by derm issues, now I'm pretty sure I never had ringworm to begin with. It seemed to fit at the time, but now with approx 100 lesions all over my body and only one of those lesions (the first one) looking like classic ringworm and none of them responding to antifungal medication, I'm voting that it's actually something called pityriasis rosea (an alternative dx my Peds resident friend came up with), also known as the christmas tree rash because of the patterns it can form in. The spots that wrap around the right side of my torso do look a bit like an upside down christmas tree, and each spot is pretty small like a bug bite. The only big spot is the original one, or the herald patch, which also fits this alternative dx perfectly. The cause of pityriasis rosea is unknown but it's not a fungus so yay for that! Apparently there's no treatment, it goes away on it's own after 6-8 weeks. I think I"m around week 6 or 7 now so hopefully it'll start disappearing soon. Mystery solved!? I'm not sure actually. There doesn't seem to be a lot known about it but they (the generic medical community "they") speculate it's caused by a virus rather than being some type of allergic reaction, so probably not unless I'm reinfected. I also read somewhere it's more common in spring and fall.Wife of a surgical fellow; Mom to a busy toddler girl and 5 furballs (2 cats, 3 dogs)

So I'm assuming you read the same thing as I did about it being dangerous for pregnant women, but I didn't see why. I know you mentioned this might be a possibility in a few years--are you going to get it checked out just in case? Baby baby baby! :PMarried to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

Enabler! Enabler! LOL
I did see that about it possibly being dangerous for pregnant women but I have no idea why that would be. And no, unless immaculate conceptions are back in fashion I am most assuredly not pregnant . Hopefully one day soon, but not today.Wife of a surgical fellow; Mom to a busy toddler girl and 5 furballs (2 cats, 3 dogs)
