What kind do you see? Especially if you're at the post children stage? I need to find a new doc but I'm wondering if I should just find a good internist (is that Internal Med?) rather then going to an OB/Gyn since I'm done having children (or that is the plan?)

Our kids have peds, our husbands have each other - who do you see?

I see an IM.

Right now I'm seeing a PA in a Family Medicine center. I can't find a good IM doctor. I'm so picky, I keep firing doctors. I don't love the PA but she gives me what I want when I go, and orders the labs I want when I ask.

I see a family practice resident... I have the same one for 2 years because I refuse to be seen by a PGY1, especially this time of year. I hate the turn over, but feel like I'm doing my part for training. But, I have no qualms asking for a referral to an appropriate specialist either.

I see an internist and an Ob/Gyn. I found one that focuses more on Gyn that OB, just because I am also done having kids.

So an internist is Internal med? I wish I had a way to find one that specialized in women's health. I think I'll e-mail our friend who went to med school here, maybe she has a rec.

I see an CNM for yearly Gyn stuff, but I don't have a "family doctor." My family never really had one growing up due to all the moves and I've continued the trend...which sucks, because I hate going to urgent care when I really am sick. I need to get a couple immunizations I'm out of date on before I get pregnant again (not this year!), so that might be a good time to vet someone.

Ironically, all my family has started going to Dr. Thirteen...he meets my mom very high standards! Go Dr. Thirteen!

I have a women's health naturopath who rocks. DH and I also have an internist if we need allopathic stuff.

Yes, an internist is internal med. Mine is a woman, and I've been happy with her. She works in a group that refers to DH's practice, so if I have an issue that requires a GYN referral, I'll see one of his partners.

In addition to my OB/GYN I also see an internist DO. Even though some women like to use their OB's as primary care, they may instead refer you to an internist like both of my OB's have.

Up until the move, I saw an OB/gyn that DH said was one of the best in town, but who I didn't know personally. Most of the OB/gyns in town we see socially and it kinda squicks me out to have a friend checking my undercarriage.

My OB/gyn was pretty awesome. I don't need any hand-holding and just want someone who can run whatever labs are needed and write scripts when necessary.

Unfortunately, with the relocation comes finding a new doc. And our area is so rural and remote that I'll be forced to either drive quite a ways to see someone I don't know socially, or I'll just have to get over it and see one of DH's partners.

I have a FM doctor I see for all things: well-woman, bloodwork, etc. Since we moved, I don't think I'll continue going there, just because the drive would suck.
I am fine with a FM doing all kinds of stuff, unless I would need a specialist -- then, I'd go looking for one. Not sure what we'll do when we're ready for #2... My friend (and a fellow resident with DH) did all my pre-natal, L&D, and post-natal care. I really, really miss her.

I used to see an Internist but kept getting bounced around in the practice because the drs. kept leaving. I found a great family practice doc. However, I will keep seeing my OB/Gyn because I Flove her and she is my neighbor.

It would be a hell of a drive, but you might like my CNM. You have very similar "worldviews." I've also heard there is a great one at the Baylor near you.
