  • Jogging strollers

The bob instruction manual says not to run till baby is 8 months. But I'm getting bored of walking and y'all know the good Dr. isn't around so I can get to the gym. Just curious when you all started jogging with baby, both with and without car seat adapter. I think DH and the pediatrician will give me the thumbs up at 4 months.... We're almost there but then again cold weather will be here before I know it. Boo.

I never used the car seat adapter--just too expensive. We just didn't use a stroller until she was 5 months (not that I recommend it).

I'm going to defer to the pediatricians, but I started jogging in the BOB with N at 6 months. Keep in mind that she has been in the 97th percentile since birth and has also been able to hold her head up since birth as well--she really does have the weight/strength of an older baby. I also used extra head support (car seat head insert) and only did fast walking on the very bumpy roads around our old house and saved jogging for really smooth surfaces. At almost 8 months old, I don't worry about it at all anymore.

Also keep in mind that I'm really slow.

You can jog now with here in the carseat as long as it's properly strapped in.

In the car seat, DH jogged with her in Feb at 4 weeks. She's always had good head control but as long as you ease them on and off sidewalks or major bumps, I don't think it's a big deal. I mean the car seat can survive a car crash, it can handle a little jog.

Without the car seat, we started a few days ago at 6 months.

We (well mostly I) run daily with her. I would encourage you to start because I've heard of older babies not tolerating it and being bored if its not introduced until they're older.

It's the only way I stay sane. My morning run is sacred.

Ok, now that I'm on my computer and not my phone - you can totally run with her now in the carseat, as T&S said its meant to withstand a car crash, she'll be fine. Without the carseat its just dependent on her head control. I have pictures of A in our BOB around 4 months and she did fine, the BOB has the best struts of any jogger I've ever seen and the stroller absorbs a lot more of the bounce then the child.

Plus, the angle of the car seat means that even if there's a little jostling (like there is in a car), her head is completely supported.

We didn't get a jogging stroller until Q was a couple months old. We got a car seat adapter to go with it. I am still using the car seat at 5 months.

I think its DH's specialty cuz he's paranoid.... But with your responses I was able to convince him it was okay. She has great head control, it was in the car seat and I run SUPER slow. So we went for our first run this a.m. 40 min run, 20 minute walk.
