I had a C-section nearly three years ago. I did my first core workout since having DD. I met with a trainer for a one time session two days ago. She only put in two types of core workouts for my program: planks and bicycle kicks. 48 hours later and I'm still really sore in the area around my C-section scar. Should I be worried? Will this area always be sore after a core workout?

However, doing plank with proper form makes me sore for a while, myself. It is such a great strengthening exercise.Wife to Family Medicine attending, Mom to DS1 and DS2

If you don't mind me asking. Where are you sore after doing planks? Mine is the lower LOWER ab area right over my 'area.' No sharp pains just sore muscle. I hate to go to the obgyn. For the record it took 3 days for that soreness to go away near the c-section area. Just in time for me to go back to the gym and do that workout again.Wife to PGY5. Mommy to baby girl born 11/2009. Cat mommy since 2002

I am always sore throughout my core: obliques, upper and lower abs (esp. lower abs, since they are the weakest). How long were you holding plank? Was it modified?

I start out with a normal plank then switch to modified. I'm not sure how long she had me do it for. Until I couldn't do it anymore ie NOT LONG.Wife to PGY5. Mommy to baby girl born 11/2009. Cat mommy since 2002

Walking planks (forward 5 steps, 2 push ups - backward 5 steps, 2 push ups).
Make sure your butt is aligned with your back (i.e. no bear crawling). Core needs to be tight as well when doing these.
V-sit pose from Pilates: hold for 10 count, 3 or 4 sets.
Again, make sure core is tight.
