Anyone have a barre at home?

Pure barre used to sell one that attached to a door, but it hasn't been on their website lately. I'd love to have one, but since this is a rental, not sure attaching one to the wall is a very good idea.

I would love one but no space. Have you thought of a fluidity bar maybe?

My husband made my daughter one out of PVC pipe and mounted it on casters. Not too expensive. Ugly, but functional. Our studio (yoga) uses sets of these for the barre classes there as well.

I looked at it. There were a bunch on CL in our old city, but I haven't seen any here. I should have bought one back then, but I was in this "no more stuff to move" mindset. It's so absurdly expensive to buy new - I don't think that's happening!

I've thought about free standing barres, but The only issue is that I would love one that could hold my weight - which is pretty hard to find unless you attach to the wall.

I'm sure I could somehow build something similar to the pure barre door attachment - or find some other way to weigh down the sides of a free standing barre.

Btw - has anyone tried these socks: http://www.shashionline.com/socks.html

They are like all the rage at my studio. Everyone claims they work better than the standard grippy socks - but I wonder if they just think they're cuter

Something like this? (says 300lb weight capacity, $125-ish, shipped): http://www.amazon.com/Softtouch-Ball.../dp/B00AODP07Q - there are others on amazon, I just searched for "ballet bar freestanding"

Humm. That might work if I can weigh it down with something.

It's pretty expensive though! Maybe I should just wait until we buy a house to attach one to the wall - looks like that can be done pretty easily for under $100.

Oh wait, I didn't see that that one was only $100. I may consider! Thanks!

I haven't ever seen those. A lot of the women at my studio wear the wraps from Nike.

A few ladies wear those too. I was thinking of buying a pair since I seem to slipping a lot in the standard socks - but I haven't has a pedicure since November, so I should probably take of that first!

I have those...they're alright. I think they're pretty ugly, but they breathe well. I like them better than regular grippy socks. I'm not a sock person in any aspect of my life, so I might not be the best person to ask.

I've been meaning to get some wraps for a while now, but nobody at my studio uses them!
I'm just trying to make it out alive!

Love that stuff- apparently a pretty big TTC & pregnancy no-no. I forget why! (I mean why not, just about everything else is!).
