    I kind of agree. I've been to three, and they gave me injections for my Morton's neuroma (which helped one of times), but I wouldn't have trusted them to do much more.

      So, the podiatrist is functioning as a gate-keeper to the sports medicine peeps? I hate that. Can your ped refer her directly to ortho? I definitely understand needing to stay in-network so you aren't paying a fortune. If she sleeps with her foot pointed, I would definitely ask about a plantar fascitis brace to sleep in.

        Yes this! That's BS IMO. Is their someone the professional dancers specifically see at the University?

          So do I. haha. I would go to a sports med dr. I get cramps in the arch of my foot sometimes. I would have her stretch out her calf muscles by standing on the stairs with her heels hanging off. Hold it for 30 secs and repeat a couple times. Also, have her sit in a pike position with a towel wrapped across the back of her foot. Pull the towel toward her body until she feels a stretch. Hold the stretch and repeat a couple more times.

            Yeah. I sleep with my feet pointed too - I did all my life. The other thing that helped besides the PF sock/splint is to sleep on my stomach (which will obviously start to cause other problems, but...) with my feet hanging off the end of the bed so that I couldn't point my toes.

            I also agree with the above stretches, also the third stretch on this site (plus also standing on tennis balls - or I also remember bonbon - I think - saying she stood on softballs): http://www.athletico.com/2012/05/09/...tis-solutions/

              I had surgery (bone removed and tendon transposed) by a podiatrist and my foot is awesome! While I mostly agree that an ortho is the better bet, I've seen a few podiatrists that work with orthos in a similar way that optoms work with ophthos.
