Yesterday was about 6 minutes power-shopping at the grocery store, then 20-ish brisk hilly walk before the kids got home for early release, then we went on a little family hike during which DH encouraged me to go off on my own and take a "long-cut" so I could go more briskly for a while. So 41 minutes total! No idea when I'll get my walk today, but worst case scenario I'll just ditch DH and the kids some time this afternoon. Yay for hubby having a weekend off!

30 Day Challenge

Walked yesterday while DH mowed the yard, then this morning while he collected the garbage and started canning pears. Today I got 2.75 miles in 40 minutes, and that marks 21 days of keeping up with my challenge!
My weight has plateaued this week and I'm totally cool with that. Because the weight that wants to stick to me right now, while I'm getting my daily walks and eating reasonably without counting anything, is the weight that I had to fight for 7 months ago with strict calorie counting and struggling hard to exercise. So bring it on, plateau! I think a healthy stable weight for me is still a few pounds away but I'm fine with just taking it one challenge month at a time.Alison

You're doing awesome, spotty! 21 days strong.
I got my walk in yesterday for what I think was day 14. (How did I get so far behind?! I guess at least I'm still going...)
Still working on today; this morning was rainy. Hopefully it clears up and cools off after the sun goes down.

Hi all! I'm still here, still doing stupid mat exercises but I'm officially dropping out of the 30 day challenge today. Doing stuff I hate every.single.day is damaging my relationship with my body and my view of exercise. So, I'm out for now. I just didn't want to disappear on you all. As soon as my toe heals enough for walking and running I'll be back at it. I can't wait!
Good luck everyone. I'm cheering for you on from the sidelines!

So I'm restarting my challenge today. I ended up taking the weekend off since DH had a vasectomy on Thursday and needed to rest. Being that he was my activity buddy, I lazed around with him.
Tonight I walked 1/2 mile and then played soccer with DD 10's team. Playing midfield instead of my usual defense kicked my ass and had me sucking major wind!Charlene~Married to an attending Ophtho Mudphud and Mom to 2 daughters

Well, my officially-stated challenge was over yesterday, and I closed it out with a good walk to the post office with DD, plus walking to the soccer field, totaling 41 minutes. I'm starting a new challenge for October, I'm going to keep up with the diet and walking but add some calisthenics: doesn't matter how much or how long as long as I do *something* like pushups, situps, squats every day. Not sure if I'll keep posting here, start an October thread, or just go along quietly on my own...we shall see! Anyway, FWIW today I hiked with DH in the morning and did 30 crunches, 15 pushups (inclined on the coffee table), and 15 bodyweight squats. It's a start!Alison
