  • HoW's accountability thread...

Soooo, I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life, including the day I gave birth to DD. I feel awful, and my knees hurt all the time. I need to lose at least 25 pounds to get back to a point where my clothes fit and I feel healthier. Right now, my biggest issue is snacking after the kids go to bed. So, while I am going to try and exercise more, my first healthy habit that needs to be reestablished is NO SNACKING after the kids go to bed.

I have signed up for yogaglo and will be trying a bunch of the videos over the next week or so to see if I find some I like enough to warrant paying for the subscription.

I've also started knitting again with the intention that if my hands are busy, I will be less tempted to eat.

10/7/14 - 15 minutes of yoga and NO SNACKING

Good for you! I'm also a late night snacker so my goal this semester has been to go to bed by 10 or 11pm on weeknights. It's working well! (I still haven't lost any weight but that's an entirely different discussion)

I think your knitting idea is a stroke of genius. I drew the line in the sand when I couldn't fit into my post partum pants anymore. With the daily changes the weight is coming off steady (and fast!). I'm sure I'll have to vigorously beat those last 10 pounds off my ass! I'll be following and cheering wildly for you!!!

Part of my issue too is that about 18 months ago, I had the Mirena IUD placed. I know from previous experience that progesterone only BC cause me to gain lots of weight.

I am having it removed on Friday and I am hoping that with some moderate lifestyle changed, that the weight will come off more easily.

OMG you are one step ahead of me. I have an appointment this Friday with my new PCP to make sure I don't have any deficiencies / hypo thyroidism. As long as all that checks out my next step will be to go see my gyn and have him take out my Mirena. What are you going to use instead? The only one I've done well with is NuvaRing, so I guess I'll go back to that. Have no idea if that's progesterone only. (when I spoke to my mom over the phone the other day her response was "honey, JSYK the women in our family are very fertile and I don't know where you stand on terminating pregnancies. But you know I cant be the thought of it....make sure you know all the ins and outs of switching BC!!" !!!!!)

Well, it isn't as if I am getting jiggy with anyone, so I'm just going to forego anything for the time being.

Eventually I want my tubes tied, but that depends on insurance coverage with the new job.

Let me know what you think of yogaglo. I'm trying to find videos to get me exercising. We are getting a new smart tv soon so I hope I can stream some exercise.

                Btw: you go!!

                  You can do it!!

I usually give myself one small snack after they go to bed, usually chocolate covered strawberries, sugar free pudding, a fudgecicle, or 100 calorie popcorn (only if I've been "good" with my food choices that day). Breath mints have been great for me after that. When I'm dying for another snack, I have one. It takes forever for them to melt in my mouth, and the mint flavor makes most snack foods sound gross afterwards. I'm

So, Wednesdays I have a 90 minute Iyengar yoga class. I don't really eat before, so I always eat after.

It is Iyengar, so the poses aren't connected like in flow. But, yeah, they are intense.

Holding your arms steady in any warrior pose for two or three minutes straight is just as brutal as 30 chatarungas.

Sadly, I'm jealous instead of horrified. I'm truly a yoga addict.

Yup. I love Iyengar. Now when I do a flow class, I feel pissy because there isn't enough time in the pose to really get the alignment corrected.

Sadly, the only class that works for my schedule is a level 1. Once I am settled in at the new job, I will see what I can do about going to a level 2 class.

10/9/14 - no snacking! No real exercise either, we didn't get home until 7 bc DS11 had a cross country meet.

Wow. No snacking is amazing. I really wish I had the will power for that!
