  • Thoughts on FitBit?

I have no idea what any of this stuff is really. But it's going to be my birthday and Fitbit seems like it might be more fun than using Runtastic? I need to get more regular exercise in. As in more than once or twice a week.

    Thoughts? Models that are decent?

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

I used it for like three weeks and then it was annoying.

        Thoughts on FitBit?

I got a Charge for Xmas and I love it. It tracks steps, miles, calories, flights climbed, sleep activity, etc. and has a readout display so you don't have to check your phone app to see your results. I also love the silent alarm feature, I actually use that a TON.

Probably the best idea. Otherwise, I'd get one of the new pulse models.

I got a Garmin for Christmas and wore it for like a week, they're not fashionable and it wasn't comfortable on my small wrist...

I've had my Fitbit Zip for over a year now. My fitness has increased a ton in that time, and I have permanently shed about 10 pounds and several percent bodyfat. I got rid of the gym membership, I am not a jogger yet, I just...walk. What I like about having a step tracker is that it can help to change your outlook on "exercise". It makes more impact on my step count if I just get off my butt -- carry that load of laundry or those stray toys upstairs as they become apparent instead of saving them to combine stair trips, limit my time in front of the computer, etc. -- than if I were to do a 30 minute workout DVD and sit on my rear the rest of the day, you know?

              I dunno. I'm a fan.

It's a thing the size of a quarter that lives in my pants pocket or clipped to my bra. Why should you care what it looks like?

(Wait, you're only talking about the ones that look like plasticky bangles, right? I don't know anyone with one of those, just the entry-level clip-on or the fancier One. My bad.)

The flex sucks. It doesn't work and I've had a ton of problems with it. I do like what I've seen of the new Garmin ones though

I have a mio right now. I only wanted it for heart rate, so I returned the one that is also a pedometer - that one was super bright and was absurdly distracting during a dark spin class. So now I just have the bandless mio hr monitor.

Tory burch makes Fitbit bracelets. I think a few other people are making them now too.

                      Bwahahaha!

In all seriousness, they're all ugly! Even the "high fashion" ones...but it acts like a red string to remind me to get off my ass. And LSW is right...nobody wants to hear about it unless they're tracking too. 😉

I have the flex and love it. I don't check it except on "off" days (Like when we went to Disney - it's fun to see). I have a separate heart rate monitor for exercising that I also love!

I like my jawbone UP24 band! I'm hardly a fashion maven, so I don't really care who thinks it looks tacky.

I don't think I could stand having something touch me while I sleep. I am super sensitive. So I'm sure I'd turn off the sleep function part. But IDK. I can't stand watches either, but of course I looked up iWatch or Apple Watch I guess they are calling it and it's so awesome. But I don't like things touching me...

So what are the clip on options? The Flex? The UP? Honestly I don't really get it and obviously did not pay attention to this wearable monitor craze at all... I like that readout thing though. That's sweet. That would motivate me, for sure. My dogs would appreciate getting more walks lol.
