Any suggestions for how to help calf pain when walking? I think it's from being too sedentary but my attempts at exercise fail due to this issue.

Oh. Man. So I've had some horrible calf pain over the years. What have you tried?

The sock? (It's like a cheap night splint). Foam roller (needs to be ribbed for calf). This thing called the trigger point system (little padded balls with the weird roller thing that comes with an instructional DVD). Compression sleeves (I slept in them even though I think thy tell you not too). One of those wooden stretching boxes.... I'll try to find a pic. I just stood on it as much as possible.

This thing called ASTYM at PT. And something called a baps board... it was helpful.

And then now I all about this crazy MAT therapy (muscle activation technique). I think my calf pain was mostly gone before I started, but it's been amazing for me.

Have you tried PT? (I know you don't have time now... but just wonder whether you ever tried in the past).

      Calf pain

I would go to a podiatrist and an ortho. Imaging, etc.

I've been having what appears to be tarsal tunnel (which inflames existing plantar fasciitis and causes numbness on a plantar nerve in my foot.

I splint every night, never go barefoot, wear special inserts and good shoes. I have an upcoming EMG to check out other potential causes, but I cannot stress enough how much good footwear and splinting have alleviated the pain.

I second a PT eval as well.
