Well, I need to throw myself in the mix, too. Of course, I also need to come up with some sort of event to challenge myself. Rick wants to train for a triathalon so maybe I'll do that.

Today it's 60 degrees outside and bright sunshine so after my late lunch I'll take the pooch for a long walk. We won't have too many more days like this. Jan. and Feb. are DC's "winter" months.

OK- January 1- walked the dog for half an hour.

January 2- elliptical machine for 35minutes, weights- three sets each- leg press, leg extension, leg curls, adductor and abductors.

Today I plan on walking the dog (again, it's sunny and in the 50s) and doing back, shoulders and arms. Tomorrow I fly out but apparently there's an exercise room at the hotel.

January 3- walked the pooch for an hour on the mall. I'd guess we were walking at a 4.0 mph clip, except for chasing squirrels and stopping to sniff every post along the way, and doing the doggie 'business'. But it was at least three miles.

January 4- 45 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes of upper body weights. Nice gym at this hotel.

45 minutes on the treadmill. Then drank 2 beers and had fajitas. Oh well, one step forward, 18 back...

Nothing to report for yesterday and today other than the fact that I got up at 5am, was at the group home by 7am, at the airport at 1pm, had to sit at the Oakland Airport for hours waiting for my flight, took the redeye home to DC, got home at 7am and promptly fell asleep until 1pm.

          But I'll workout tomorrow.

40 minutes on the bicycle at the hotel this morning. (tried the treadmill, but when it starting creaking and the belt starting sticking, I thought better of it.)

So, I did 40 minutes on random, level 3.

(and I was so bored observing the clients at the day program today that I hid in an office and did deep knee bends, lunges and stretches to wake myself back up!)

35 minutes on the bike- I think I should get a bonus five moinutes because I was up and in the gym at 5AM.

Damn, makes my beer taste extra good tonight. (I'm home!!)

Walked the dog on the jail, formerly known as the loevly National Mall. However, with the chain link fences and cement blockades, it's actually rather unattractive.

So, Pete and I weaved through the blockades for 60 minutes.

I was about to go to the gym tonight but a friend called and I ended up talking to her for an hour- and by then I was starving. But I made cous-cous, steamed broccoli, and lamb. yummy!

                    Today-

Walked the dog for 20 minutes (it's freezing- we went from 70 to 30 in two days. That's just not right. I may go to the gym later or I may just go tomorrow for a yoga class.

                    Jenn

PS- that's 420 minutes at the halfway mark- I realized to forgot to post of the long dog walks for 60 minutes- so I'm at seven hours as well. Doesn't seem like a whole lot... spread out over 15 days!

I became that annoying person in the hotel room next door, as I hit the snooze for ONE HOUR. Needless to say, I got all of a 20 minute walk in on the hotel treadmill. The good news- either I get to go home tomorrow- and sleep in my own bed, OR I stay at a hotel that I know has a good gym. (Sadly, I know this because I've stayed there previously!)

Oh well, now it's time to pack up and get ready to leave at 6:00 in the morning.

So- I ended the month on a good note- and so far the month of February has gone very well. I didn't work out yesterday because my knees hurt- I need new running shoes in the worst way! It's a beautiful 50 degree day so I'm going to sign off and take the dog for a really long walk- blow out all of the cobwebs.

Got the new running shoes on Sunday- and wow, what a difference. I was able to work out at the hotel on Monday- but Tuesday and Wednesday were washouts. Today I plan on heading over to the gym. I just had a snack of tea (no sugar, no milk, no cream) and a small piece of my mom's homemade banana bread. (I justified it by figuring that the bb had fiber...)

I signed up to run a 5k at the end of March, too. (I always have to have a goal!)

So, went to the gym on 2/10- and for some reason was really tired and my new shoes needed to have the laces adjusted so one foot went numb- so I did all of 25 minutes and left. But it's better than nothing! Yesterday, I readjusted the laces (I should know todo thison Saucony's I have to do it with every pair!) and I didthe elliptical machine for 40 minutes and then lifted (arms/chest/back) for 20 minutes.

I wanted to go to the yoga class today but missed it. Oh well. Gotta prep for the 5k.
