  • Half Marathon / Marathon

Is anyone else out there training for a half or full marathon? We are trying to train for the Columbus, OH half marathon in October (http://www.columbusmarathon.com/index.php). We used the USAfit training program (http://www.usafit.com/) to train for the Houston marathon in 2004. We tried for the Houston half marathon this year, but just couldn’t do it for a handful of reasons. We are going to modify the USAfit program a little bit and use it to train for Columbus.

I'm planning on running a half marathon this fall. Possibly one in Dallas (I think it's the White Rock something or other...can't remember), but if traveling isn't an option, then I'll do the gobbler grind here in KC. My sister has put together a little training program, which I haven't really looked at since I can't run right now, but I think it starts about 6 weeks or so after I have the baby.

      Hi Kate and Sue,

Against my better judgment, I've signed up for the Twin Cities on Oct. 1. When is Columbus? It is on my short lists of races "To Do".

I'm running a half marathon this weekend in order to put a long distance run "in the bank" early. I know that I won't run as much when I go to Tennessee at the end of the month (too hot and too hilly) so I try to get some LSD runs in earlier in the season.

I'll check out the Col. website.

It's October 15...too close in time to the TCM. Sorry.

          This thread has me excited!

Kate will you be my running partner when I get to Cinci ? :weight: Maybe we could do Columbus or Cincinnati in 2007?

Kelly - I'd love to! I have to admit that I'm a bit intimidated by all of the hills on the Cincinnati course! Good thing that I have plenty of time to train!

Sue - I've heard good things about the course for the Dallas marathon. We have some friends that have done the Texas Challenge and I think that the Dallas marathon is the first one in the 'challenge'. Unfortunately, traveling won't be an option for me so I'll have to stick with races that are within a few hours drive of home.
