  • My honey's favorite meal

So, since we have 48 hours left, I made my honey's favorite meal, ever.

He bought a ginormous steak from the Gucci grocery store and grilled it on that fab charcoal that Whole Foods makes. I coated the steak in EVOO, s & P and then cut some sprigs of rosemary from my bushes outside. Laid the springs on top and underneath so that they'd char into the meat and infuse it with rosemary flavor. (That's how they do it Florence and let's face it, the Italians know food)

I sauteed spinach in some olive oil, garlic and lightly tossed with some sea salt.

I sliced three potatoes into oven fries, covered them in olive oil, sea salt, salt, pepper, onion and garlic power. They baked in the oven.

I bought a small baguette from WF today and tossed that in the oven at the tail end of the fries baking time. For the bread I made a dip of EVOO. balsamic, S & P and a sprinkle of hot red pepper flakes. I then threw in a few of the rosemary sprigs.

We had a lovely Cab from Becker Vineyards here in Texas.

I rock, I have to say.

    Jenn

and for those in the DC/NJ/NY area, Balducci's sells ZOE olive oil. Buy it. It's unbelievablly good.

I am so glad you are getting to take the time, even though it is hectic right now, to do these nice things before he leaves.

I can't tell you how much I have been thinking of you. Big hugs!

It sounds delicious -- and I agree with Heidi. I'm so proud of you. This is a much better use of the time before he leaves. I would just be a whiney heap of blubbering .... you're making the best of the situation.
