Outside on the grill......we've got steak, sausage and hot dogs. Cous-cous and salad. Iced Tea and Pellagrino. Apples and Nutella. Coffee. Yum. We're loving the nice weather. We've been outside for dinner for the last three nights.

But it's getting colder here, now.....

      Sounds yummy, Angie!
It's so hard to motivate myself to cook for one. are there any "recipes for one" out there?

We had a buttload of zucchini (having to harvest them promptly to avoid blossom rot setting in) and I'd bought an eggplant to go with them a few days ago. The eggplant was threatening to go bad so I went ahead and made ratatouille for one -- with a LOT of leftovers, LOL.

DH really likes for there to be something well-rounded for him to snack on when he gets home, so I should probably get back in the habit of cooking a whole meal when he's not here. "Oh, no, go ahead and cook anyway, Lois, and we'll throw it out. I don't want you to get rusty."

We went out for dinner w/ our friend whose husband is also deployed. We went out for Indian buffet. I'm stuffed but happy.

(and Jenn P., what are the spices they use in their rice 'pudding'? They have little round seed/pod things. Yummy!)

            Indian buffet rocks.

We had fettucine alfredo and a medium bodied cab. Hearty. Delish.

probably cardamom, or possibly cloves. much more likely it's the prior.

MIL makes the most divine banana milkshakes w/vanilla ice cream, bananas, and cardamom.

                  Now I want one. :P

                    I was RIGHT!

I make sure I leave enough room at the end. And the semolina cakes soaked in honey (which Nikolai also then dips into the mango pudding) are divine as well.

We were out on the east side, driving toward home along Sandy blvd, when DH said "isn't Rheinlander around here somewhere?"

                      Mmmmmm....

Pesto fondue and chicken alfredo spaetzele, and a way-chocolatey dessert, too. I have enough leftover entree for 2 or 3 more meals, too (since I mostly ate fondue and dessert)

I'm going to miss Gustav's/Rheinlander, dammit. A lot.

DH is on call tonight so DD is having leftover homemade mac and cheese and I get a leftover pork chop, egg noodles, and a salad. Tomorrow, he'll make a meatloaf and cook it while he cleans the house. (I know, I'm mean for making him clean the house when he's post call. But, I'm a meanie with a clean house! :>)
