Food Saver vs. Freezer Paper

  • Food Saver vs. Freezer Paper

What would be your choice and why?

In my quest to save $ on groceries, I bought all my meat for this month in bulk from Costco, divided it up and sealed some of it with a food saver, some with freezer paper.

Freezer paper was SO much easier and SO much cheaper. Does it not preserve the food as well?

What are your experiences with both?

I don't think it preserves the food for as long. I use it though with the meats that I buy from the chi-chi grocery stores. (I figure since I'm only buying for one adult it's easier to have them wrap each piece of meat rather than end up with a ton of stuff that will clog up my freezer.)

I've always heard also that if you double wrap stuff, the ice only penetrates the first layer.

I don't know if this makes a difference but I wrapped the meat first with cling wrap just because that made it easier to work with (not as bloody, yuck).
