Can anyone recommend a good Mexican and/or Asian cookbook? It's so hard to pick one in a store, there are too many to choose from and I have no idea which are good and which are a waste of money.

There's a good one from a famous Mexican place here in SA- I think it's called the Los Barrios Family Cookbook. It's the place that Bobby Flay goes to when he's in town- he just did a Puffy Taco throwdown for this season.
If you can't find it, let me know because they sell it at the Alamo giftshop- which is a mere 1 mile from my house.

Rick Bayless books for Mexican food. I have two of his books and like them. It is a more authentic style and not tex-mex (but I like that too).
A friend just recommended Mangoes and Curry Leaves (or something like that) for asian food. I have Quick and Easy Thai by Nancy McDermott. I've made a few of her recipes and they turn out well but I've only done a few. Or Hot Sour Salty Sweet by the same authors of the first book. Madhur Jaffray is well-known for her Indian cookbooks.
