  • Calling the ho's. . .

We've got a bottle of Cristal in the refrigerator that we received from a friend. People seem to think that's a good one to get. (Of course, it makes me want to don my bling and go cruising around town hanging out the sunroof of a limo.....not sure that's the image you want to go with.... )

If I were dashing in to the liquor store, I would grab a bottle of Veuve Clicquot.

Hey wait a minute, who you calling ho?

        Here's a list:

I have had the first on the list and like it. I also like the Argyle on that list. Gruet is another but I haven't had it in a while -- and from New Mexico!

Our neighbors gave us a bottle of the Argyle as a welcome gift and it's still in the fridge. Heavens. Must think of an occasion.

For less than $30 I'd skip the French Champagne and go with either Spanish Cava, Italian Proseco or California Sparkling Wine. You'll get much better quality for your money. If you decide to lean toward domestic, I suggest either Mumm or Piper Sonoma. Do you like it dry or semi-sweet? For dry look for "Brut" and for semi-sweet - "Demi-Sec".

I was going to suggest Proseccos too. Yumm at all $$$ levels.

I'll be off to the wine shop soon with all your recs in hand. Will let you know what I try.

That sucks that you have to wait but to chime in late our favorite is Martin Rossi Asti - its a sweeter champagne, we don't like the really dry stuff. Or Mum MDX is always good too.
