  • A new toy

DH gave me a Le Creuset Dutch oven for my birthday. Six weeks later, I finally went to get it. It looks like this but blue:

I'm in love. I've been pining away after one of these for a few years.

Target has a similar style dutch oven that is on sale right now. The Le Creuset has a little more heft and since I better have it forever, I decided it was worth the splurge.

Just in time for fall and winter cooking. I made a braised chicken, prune and olve deal the other night that was tasty tasty.

very cool. There is a le cruset store here (at the outlet thingy). I was all ready to start w/my fall recipes and we've had a week of 80 to 90 degrees!

So jealous. What works best in it, besides soups or stews?

          Anything in here:

You can fit a whole chicken in there. Chicken and dumplings, coq au vin, osso buco. Some of the recipes in that book: Braised Endive with Prosciutto, Whole Chicken Braised with Pears and Rosemary, Duck Ragu with Pasta, and Veal Shoulder Braised with Figs & Sherry. Basically foods that simmer slowly in flavorful liquid in a tightly sealed pot. It can go in the oven too.

                Yay! Congratulations!

My parents gave me one for Christmas (er... the New Year!). It's great. I'm dying to use mine again this year - it's in the 90s, so I'm not going to torture myself today.

I like to do a homemade bolognese in mine.

                Enjoy!

Amazon has pretty good prices for Le Creuset. I got a red Dutch Oven and a new cookbook for our anniversary this spring. I'm yet to try it out though. Although on Food Network everyone uses them for just about anything from boiling spagetti to deep frying.

Bed Bath and Beyond carries them and you can use the 20% off coupon. I wish I had known that BEFORE I bought and used the pan.

you could buy it 20% off from BB&B and then return the BB&B one to the original vendor..... :guilty: :angeldevil:

Oh Michele....I like the way you think. I'll have to see if I can find the receipt.

Great minds think alike, Annie. I love the blue. I made the stew portion of the Barefoot Contessa chicken w/ biscuits in it. *sigh*

I love mine, I have two different sizes and have had them for over 20 years. I gave Amy one for her shower.
