  • What does your T-giving menu look like?

I am so behind. I think I will make quick cinnamon rolls for breakfast and fruit. I am going to steal your stuffed mushroom idea for midday, perhaps.

I am making rolls for dinner. Our host is serving ham so I will probably make a turkey this weekend with mashers, yams, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Screw the green stuff!

Since its just going to be my husband and I this year we're having a small roast chicken with stuffing and the traditional sides (cranberry sauce, yams). To even it out, fresh steamed broccoli and potatoes (I haven't decided between mashed potatoes or potato salad). I'm going very simple, but nice.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :dinner:

It's just out little fam this year, so I am not doing appetizers or anything like that.

      I'm making

Slush (super delicious yummy frozen punch that can be virgin or have alcohol added, works for everyone).
      Roast turkey
      Apple, cranberry, and sausage stuffing
      Mashed Potatoes
      Turkey gravy
      Sweet Potato casserole
      Rolls
      Peach pie
      Banana and coconut cream pie

No cranberry sauce or green beans since I am the only one who would eat them, and no pumpkin pie because we don't really like it! We prefer other pies.

Well, we're having two thanksgivings in a way. The actual day will be just me and the kids. Then we'll do it again on Sat when dh can join us. I just went shopping today.

        T-Day:
pumpkin muffins with gingerbread spice tea for breakfast

Pinkpickle's brussel sprouts and TJ's meatballs for lunch

Veggie sushi in soy wraps for dinner with which ever cookie recipe comes out best for dessert.

        Sat T-day#2:
        Turkey with stuffing
cranberry sauce (dh only likes the canned junk- I gave up a few years ago on trying to sway him over to homemade)
        garlic mashed potatoes
        candied yams
green beans with toasted sesame seeds
and for dessert, my kids' favorite, I pop marshmallows into the toaster until browned and serve.

        Easy stuff

We'll stick to cheerios for breakfast and have an early full meal.

I don't know the whole thing.

There will be smoked turkey, Suzanne's sister makes a really yummy stuffing w/sausage in it, I'm making the "Jacob's Family Rolls", cranberry fiasco, and a pumpkin cheesecake. There will be other stuff too -- but I'm not responsible for it.

            I have no idea since we're going to a friend's house. I'm sure it'll be traditional w/ a Tex-Mex twist.

                  We're having:

                  Turkey
My yummy sweet potatoes (which I think I've posted here somewhere)
                  Stuffing
                  Canned cranberries
                  Crescent rolls
Pumpkin crisp (this one is new - we usually have pie)

There will be lots of leftovers since it will just be me and DH.

Re: What does your T-giving menu look like?

We will be eating around 5, and DH has to go in for an in-house shift at 6. There will be six of us.....my family plus my Dad, who is in town for the holiday.

                    Day-ahead mashed potatoes
                    Crescent rolls
green bean casserole (my sons LOVE it)
Lemon-Herb Turkey (from either Bon Appetit or Gourmet)
pumpkin pie (from a recipe that uses melted ice cream mixed with the pumpkin....sounds yummy!)
cherry pie (courtesy of Sara Lee or Marie Callendar or somebody )

Confession: I have never cooked a turkey before. I am alternately excited and terrified.....but for sure I am looking forward to the leftovers!

Lily: reading your excitement about your husband being home brought back many memories! Those days when you get to see them after you've resigned yourself to being alone AGAIN are priceless! Enjoy!

dh doesn't get home until after 8pm, so it's just me and he'll get mildly warm leftovers. I'm making nothing traditional but it should be good. Cereal for breakfast, hummus for lunch, veggi pot pie and apple crisp for dinner.

It's just our family plus BIL (who I'm not a fan of, but that's a whole other thread).

                          Probably cranberry muffins for breakfast.

Chai-spiced butternut squash soup. I already made it. I'm going to serve it in shot glasses to the adults and if the kids want any, I'll give it to them in demitasse cups.

                          Roasted cider-brined turkey

                          Bread stuffing/dressing

                          Mashed potatoes

                          gravy

                          Caeser salad

                          dinner rolls

                          pumpkin cupcakes

Sally - YOU CAN DO IT! A turkey is a no-brainer, especially for someone who has 3 boys and manages to teach middle schoolers w/o killing them.

I'd love your green bean casserole recipe when you have a chance.

Since DS is due in a week, I was going to do super-simple and order almost everything. The problem is, I'm starving all the time and can't stop thinking about food, so the list keeps growing. So far we're up to:

                              Beer bread
                              Spinach dip
                              Carrots (to dip)
                              Sweet peppers (to dip)
                              Pita chips
                              Eggplant spread
                              Turkey
                              Mashed potatoes
                              Gravy
                              Cranberry Relish
                              Stuffing
                              Rolls (4 different kinds)
Brussel sprouts with a honey-mustard glaze
                              Winter vegetables
                              Sweet potato spoon bread
                              Greek salad
                              Fruit salad
                              Cornbread
                              Pumpkin bundt cake
                              Mini cheesecakes
                              Pumpkin pie
                              Apple pie
                              Ice cream

I'm so glad Thanksgiving is tomorrow. If it wasn't, my menu would just keep growing! On top of it, DH's family that is coming is flying in from Chicago tomorrow. Wonder how delayed they'll be? It might be Thanksgiving dinner on Friday.
