  • Favorite Wine Countries

Do you ever choose a wine based on where it comes from? (I hope so. ) Now, I know this will be a very general poll, but from where do your favorite wines hail??

    (Choose your top 3.)

I really enjoy the Vino Verdes from Portugal!

I am highly partial to Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand. If we are talking Chard, a Russian River valley even year is da bomb!

Well, you don't even have the countries I would choose on your list.

So, hmmph. Not that I am a huge wine counisseur, but still. :P

        Romania and Germany and Canada.

USA is the only one you have that I would choose. Not that I've tried all that many. Oh, and I guess Italy.

I like super sweet wines (ice wine).

There are some good dry reislings that I've come across but otherwise, I'd rather have a muscat or other aperitif.

I definitely did not love "German Wine Day" in my wine tasting class in college.

Things not to give Germans because, historically, nothing good comes of it: guns and grapes.

                Ouch.

I don't drink wine much, but love this forum! We went wine-tasting in the Alscace-Lorraine region of France. I felt like an idiot!

Annie, I do like French and Italian wines but with the way the euro is heading, they're getting pricier by the minutes. In residency we found that South American wines gave us a lot more bang for the bug. Then after we visited Argentina we just fell in love with the country and their wines. Now if I could only get them to export more.

Unfortunately they don't make enough for export to be profitable. But I could fly over there and just bring a few cases back myself. To sell exclusively to this group.

I love French wines but I've become smitten with Argentinian wines and had to chose that as my third instead! So good!
