  • Great tip

I'm not sure where I read this, but it really worked.

I made a large pot of soup and it was too hot to put away and I had to go to work. I filled a large ziplock freezer bag with ice and put it in the soup. I stirred for a while and it really did cool down the soup from the inside out! When it was cooled I just pulled out the ziplock filled with water! Genius.

Are you sure the plastic won't start to melt? I'm such a wimp when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I had allowed it to cool maybe 20 minutes before I put the ice in. I used the heavy duty freezer ziplock and it was fine.

Thanks! I told you I was chicken shit.
I'll try it, because this we eat lots of soup and have this problem pretty often.

You could use one the ziplocks made for steaming food, unless it has holes in it. Just get the heavy duty and partially cool first.
