  • Best Fall Apple Recipe

All this talk of fall has been making my stomach rumble. I make an excellent apple pie, yummy baked apples, and a killer hot apple cider. But other than that I'd like to open it up - please post your favorite apple recipe since we are enter the apple season!

(I'll throw my recipes in once I can find the darn recipe box...it has to be in one of these boxes somewhere...)

Can you believe I just developed an insanely life-threatening allergy to apples?
The fall is making me realize how VERY depressing this is!! lol
I shall live vicariously through the wonderful recipes that people might post!!

          I love apple pie.

Oh man, I feel the same way Amber!
I'm now full-blown celiac, so no more apple pie made by my grandma for me. :/
I'll have to go get some gluten free pie-crust mix, and hope that it's the same this year

I can't wait to hear the apple cider recipe. I love cider, but I've never actually tried to make it.

My favorite (EASY) thanksgiving recipe which I've posted here before is:

Core about three baking apples (the crisp ones that will retain their shape) and slice into approximately 1/8 inch slices. Slice about two good sized sweet potatoes the same size slices.

Layer in columns in a 9 X 13 pan apple, sweet potato, apple until you've filled the pan.

Toss a few pinches of butter, somewhere between one or two tablespoons of dark brown sugar. Finally, pour enough juice (I use whatever is on hand- but I've used apple juice, apple cider, orange juice, and cranberry juice over the years) to go up about half the depth of the apples. Cover w/ foil.

Bake at 350 degrees until the apples and sweet potatoes are fork tender.

Jenn, that does sound good. I don't remember seeing it before. Should we start a Thanksgiving recipe thread swoon?

Well, it's that time of year!

We're not going home this year so once again I'm going to be looking for different things. I made a stew from Vegetarian Times last year that was served in a pumpkin and OMG it was good.

That sounds divine. I might ought to stop reading this thread now, before I start craving all of these sweet treats!!!
