I suateed broccoli rabe with olive oil, garlic, white wine, kalamata olives, balsamic vinegar, and added one can of crushed tomatoes and mixed with penne pasta and sprinkled with some crushed red pepper. It is incredibly bitter. What can I do to lessen the bitterness? It is so bitter I can hardly eat it. HELP!!!!!

Maybe I'll try a couple of teaspoons of sugar??? Fortunately, DH will eat just about anything put in front of him. Actually, me too, but this is really bitter. Maybe Heidi will have a suggestion.Luanne

I have heard it is less bitter if you boil it rather than sautee it, but too late. My only suggestion is the sugar at this point, maybe some honey?Heidi, PA-S1 - wife to an orthopaedic surgeon, mom to Ryan, 17, and Alexia, 11.

I opened a can of plum tomatoes and cooked them in a cast iron skillet with a few tablespoons of sugar and some balsamic vinegar and added this to the dish. It isn't half bad.Luanne
