So I am in charge of Christmas Day dinner for my ILs. I was thinking some type of scallop-pasta dish (We are eating prime rib on Christmas Eve with my parents). Any good scallop recipes or other ideas for dinner?

My friend makes this awesome seared scallops on a bed of lentils that are cooked in red wine.

I'll get the recipe for you.

I've made one of the baked scallop recipes on allrecipes.com that was good. I'm a sucker for sauteeing scallops in
      butter garlic and white wine....

I love, love scallops. I think the hardest thing about scallops is finding nice, dry, fresh ones. It can be almost impossible. Without them being dry, it's hard to get a nice sear on them. That carmelization is to die for.

I love a nice seared scallop, other than that, I love them in a nice seafood au gratin, or topped in cream sauce or wrapped in bacon and breaded and deep fried or on top of some yummy pasta.

I also love them raw. I had some at a great sushi bar in Tampa today.

Thanks ladies I usually do not buy scallops - if I get them from the fish monger on Christmas Eve - will they be ok for the Day?

Just make sure you get the big ones. They taste tons better than the little ones.
