  • How many servings?

I don't throw big parties that often so I'm at a loss for how to estimate serving sizes for a large group. A's first birthday party is in a few weeks and so far, we have 30 adults and 18 kids coming. In the past, when I've made food for the amount of people expected I've always had a ton of leftovers, i.e. for a dinner for 10, I made 8-10 servings of all the dishes. For this mix of adults and kids, how much should I estimate per dish?

What are you making? I would likely do pizza, veggie, and fruit trays for that type of party. Have fun! Oh, I would order 10 to 12 pizzas. The good thing about pizza is that you can freeze leftovers

      Tara,

I like your hostess style! I'm all about the easy button.

Oh no - do you think people will expect a meal at the party? I was planning on just doing finger foods. I set the party for 2PM because I figured it's in between lunch & dinner so hopefully people won't be expecting lunch! This is my menu:

3 appetizers (have to see what Costco has ready-made and/or frozen, or will have to get from TJs) - also don't know how many servings of these to get

Cake bites - using one box of cake mix so about 50 bites

Frosted Brownies - making in 2 9x13 pans, not sure how many servings that will be

Cookies - from Costco - not sure how many to get

Chips & Dip - will get 4 bags of chips

Veggie Tray - 1 or 2 veggie trays

        Fruit Tray - 1 tray
