tofu?

I am wondering if anyone out there has any good recipes for tofu. I like it and the kids tolerate it, but it has been years since I have cooked with it regularly.

My sister just made this and said it was so amazing that she even sent me the recipe. Since I don't cook, when she sends me something, it's gotta be awesome.

Eat it cold. Pour soy sauce over it, thinly cut green onions, and grate some fresh ginger over it as well.

It's one of those things that I will never understand why people insist on cooking it.

I like mine steamed with green curry over rice and veggies.

It would be a side dish in Japan. So, I would say something like 1/4 of a packaged tofu. During the summer, it's a really nice substitute for a salad.

I usually stir fry it or bake it in a marinade. Recently I have eaten it cold with peanut sesame dressing with green onions, etc. I usually stir fry it in toasted sesame oil.

You probably wouldn't find it in a restaurant, but the Japanese families I know eat it during the summer months.

I buy it at an Asian grocery story, so not something like Kroger. I imagine the tofu sits there for quite a long time. Actual tofu that is freshly made is hard to find. My family used to buy it from a place that would cut pieces off a big block for you.

I don't steam it or rinse it. Just press it. I buy organic tofu blocks in water from tj's usually.

Alison- Our local sushi chain serves it exactly like that, but since it's San Antonio, it's a ginormous sized portion- like a full block from the grocery store.
