  • How did she make this cake?

L.Jane has inspired me to get more into baking in the past year. I'm making this rockin' banana chocolate cake with rum cream cheese icing. YUM.

Question for today is.... How does she make this flag cake??

My guess is with a red cake thinly sliced and with white frosting between the layers and a smaller round blue cake inserted at the top with more red layers on the outside.

        That is stinkin adorable!

I think it's similar to what DD said -- very thinly sliced round red cake (I'm guessing two 12" cakes) with white frosting in between each layer, then cut a hole in the center for a smaller round blue cake (maybe 6" or 8"), then cover the entire thing in icing.

I really want to try it! I don't have round pans. Must go shopping!

That's awesome! I wish I had the kind of patience and creativity that requires. Sorta makes my flag cake look elementary.

The other thing you can do is bake really thin cakes, to bad Shakti isn't around anymore because I'm pretty sure she has done something similar. I bet if you googled it you could find directions or a you tube directional.

I really miss her. Any idea why she isn't around so much anymore?

I think she decided it was time to spend less time on the internet now that they are settled and out of training. She's on FB from time to time if you want to reconnect.

I thought she had been out of training for years now? No? I know she was working out a ton! I wondered how all that was going for her.
