  • Overnight oats

Anyone ever make them. I have become addicted to them.

    1/2 cup rolled oats
    1/2 low fat milk
2 tbs Greek low fat vanilla yogurt
    2 tbs chia seeds
    3 tbs frozen berries
    1tbs agave nector

Put all in mason jar and shake. Leave it in fridge for 12 hours. I eat 1/2 one day and 1/2 the next.

I do, and I liked it, although I only did it one week and never got around to making it again, despite buying the yogurt.

I'm going to try your recipe tomorrow Brandi. I tried another recipe last night. I'm eating it now and not sure I like it. Kind of stodgy, but I did put in half Greek yogurt for the liquid. I added a bit more milk this morning so it would stir. It's filling for sure.

We do: 3 cups boiling water to 1 cup steel cut oats. Pour oats into boiling water, cut heat, put on lid, walk away.
            Oatmeal in the a.m.

              I do:

              1 cup rolled oats
              1/2 cup skim milk
              3/4 cup nonfat vanilla yogurt

Soak oats in milk (covered) and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, drain off any excess liquid. Stir in yogurt. Top with fruit (fresh or dried), granola, nuts, whatever.

I'm way simpler. I put some rice or soy milk over rolled oats, wander around for 20-30 minutes getting ready, stir in some raisins/dates/filberts/flax seed. Good to go.

It's got to be overnight. That way I can eat before I take O to school and do that I can make it for dh to grab in the morning.

                  These ideas are great!

I've been meaning to try this one, from Alton Brown. I would probably substitute other dried fruit (or leave it out completely), for me. Claims 4 servings:

                    Ingredients
                    1 cup steel cut oats
                    1 cup dried cranberries
                    1 cup dried figs
                    4 cups water
                    1/2 cup half-and-half

                    Directions
In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients and set to low heat. Cover and let cook for 8 to 9 hours.

Stir and remove to serving bowls. This method works best if started before you go to bed. This way your oatmeal will be finished by morning.

I've done it in the slow cooker and in a casserole dish in the oven the night before. Reheats beautifully with some added liquid for the whole week.

I think I will make it with pumpkin tonight

They were good this morning. I followed pretty closely to Brandi's.

                        1/2 cup rolled oats
                        3/4 cup milk
                        2Tbs Greek yogurt
                        2tsp chia seeds
                        3 Tbs frozen berries
3 tsp sweetener - I used honey and maple syrup

                          Overnight oats

The pumpkin pie baked steel cut oats were delicious!

                          1 cup steel cut oats
                          1 cup water
                          2 cups milk
                          1 cup pumpkin
                          1 TB pumpkin pie spice
                          1TB butter

Combine in a bowl and pour into a casserole dish (I used my white corningwear) that has been greased. Bake covered at 350 for 45 min, the stir and bake uncovered for another 10-15

It makes 6 servings and I keep it In the fridge and reheat with milk
