you guys are making me feel terrible. Then again DH is often home before me but he'd never consider making me dinner. I consistently cook once a week and that's what we eat until it's gone. If I have time mid week I'll run to the Italian market down the road to add some variety to whatever meat we've been eating. In the summers it's the same but we grill out. Every now and then I'll get in the mood and use a recipe / make something different but 2016 has been too busy so far. This week DH's lunches consisted of steak, fage yogurt, a granola bar, and an orange. We eat out 1-2x a week and he buys lunch whenever I forget to pack one for him.

On good weeks, I'll cook about 3 meals, and we'll eat leftovers for a couple of nights and eat out the other nights. I make easy meals, all 30 minutes or less. I try to use lots of canned and frozen goods to shorten prep time (beans, broths, pre-cut veggies).Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

! cook real meals 3-4 times a week, otherwise we go out. DH will cook if we eat at home on a Saturday or Sunday because he likes to. We also use Hello Fresh and Blue Apron because while I love to cook, I HATE menu planning and my DH hates to eat the same things over and over again so this gives us both what we want - its more expensive then regular groceries but cheaper then going out and I don't feel like I'm throwing stuff out we don't use and we're getting a healthy variety.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

I usually cook 3 or 4 days a week and we have leftovers 1 day, sometimes takeout 1 day. DH cooks on the weekend if he's not on call. If he is on call it's something very simple on the weekend.

The most cooking we've done this calendar year is baking pre-marinated chicken breasts and throwing frozen veggies into the microwave. Yep. You guys who cook, do you have kids? I used to cook 4-5 days a week but DH is in the middle of his surgery rotation (3rd year med student) and he's only home about 1 night a week right now. We don't have kids so it's just me and I find it so hard to cook for one! I just figured out cooking for two and then I lost my number 2!! Pizza, frozen veggies and perfect portion chicken is basically the only thing I eat right now!

I have a one year old... She's actually the biggest reason I cook. If we ate takeout every night, how would I feed her healthy meals? It's so much easier to eat casually when you're childless. "Hey honey, can we just eat cheese and drink wine for dinner tonight?" "Sounds good!" Ah, those were the days!Wife of PGY-4 (of 6), cat herder, and mom to a sassy-pants four-nager.

I cook on the weekends (2-3 things) and we freeze or reheat and rotate them around. Dh will pitch in whenever he's home. He's a good cook and always willing to help though he's not home often.
We rarely, rarely do takeout. Two reasons, it's unhealthy/expensive (I've had some issues with disordered eating so this is definitely a driving force) and also bc I can't bear to schlep everyone in the car to go get it. I only get 2 hours with them at night and don't want to spend it in the car.
Helps that we don't eat much meat at all so reheating is super easy!Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)

I feel like I only cook actual food if I have another person around to cook for, even if it's a kid. I've been watching our niece a lot recently which gives me the motivation to make decent food but during the week I feel like I'm getting caught in a cycle of eating quick and crappy meals
