  • Am I a Dawkter's Wife?

Lazy? tired? Dealing with a toddler?

Why yes, to all of the above which is why....drumroll please....

I order my groceries online and have them delivered to my flippin' front door.

    OH, THE ANGELS SING....

I cannot tell you what a ginormous stress reliever this has been- I make sure to order enough to get the automatic delivery discount- (I do the big orders every 2 weeks or so and then pick up milk et al as needed) and schedule the delivery for a 4 hour window which also reduces the fees. So, for 4.95, I get my groceries delivered without dealing with a two-year-old, a stroller, etc.

and the best part is- I don't buy crap that I don't need, which no doubt pays for the delivery fee right there.

If you have this service available, I heartily recommend using it. No more junk food, I can order based on meal-planning and I can keep better track of what I have in the house.

I did this whilst preggers with #5. It was SUCH an enormous help. And, I did spend much less on groceries....

I don't know about the pricing anywhere else, but the local paper found that the prices at our in-home delivery service were very commiserate with average local grocery stores. The fee here is only $5. So much better than going with two kids who scream for junk, junk, junk.

See - the store that will do it here charges $15 for delivery. I just can't bring myself to shell it out. I'm sure I would save $ in the long run by not buying crap I don't need (especially b/c I grocery shop at TARGET).

How do you find the service in your area? I would be totally down with that. If gas is going over 3 bucks a gallon, the delivery fee would almost be worth it.

Ages ago a gf in Boston used that sort of a service. Shopping w/ a baby with public transportation...she was willing to pay the extra LOL.

I have been sending weekly emails to my grocery store BEGGING them to start up a home delivery service. I used it when we lived in LA and loved it.
