Phew! Am I exhausted. The kids did great traveling, all things considered, but air travel was not designed with a 2 year old in mind. This trip coincided with Anna deciding to test out the "if you are mad, lay down and stretch out in the middle of a busy concourse" conflict resolution technique.
I made 2 German Chocolate cakes -- two layer 11x15 or so. Took forever because I had to do 4 cakes with one pan. It wasn't true German Choc because I didn't use the German Chocolate because I think it is way too sweet. I used my favorite chocolate cake recipe that uses cocoa powder. Then did the usual coconut and pecan filling between layers and on the top and frosted with a chocolate frosting that is tasty and pipes well. (Martha Stewart 15th anniversary magazine, June graduation cake frosting).
I think it is my second favorite chocolate frosting. My grandma liked and had a great 90th birthday party. I am grateful my kids got to see her and my grandfather.
