  • Slow cooker

Just need a bit of advice.

Where can I send SO to get one for me? This time when I go over to visit I will nee to cook for DS but we also have a lot of plans to do stuff during the day so plan to put something on in the mornings and have it cooked by the evening with minimal disturbance to his flat mate and friends! My stomach was in bits from eating out all the time when I was there last month.

I don't want anything fancy, cheap and cheerful and does the job so any recommendations on a brand would be cool too?

    Much appreciated,
    Jane

You should be able to find one for around $20. Target would be a good place to look.

That sounds perfect, I'll put it on my list of things for SO to get.

Bed, Bath and Beyond have them, too. and sometimes you can catch a sale at a department store but Target is probably the easiest source.

(PS- I ordered mine online at amazon.com and it was delivered to my house. Couldn't have been easier.)

I have a big fat gift certificate to Bed Bath & Beyond and am considering a fancy slow cooker. What should I look for in an overpriced Crockpot? What features differentiate an ordinary one from a pricey one?

I don't know what makes it pricey, but I would definitely get one that allows you to remove the pot part for easier washing.

removing the pot, more than one temp, and a large capacity. other than that, I would go no higher than $40.

I got a gigantic one at Costco with a removable pot and temperature settings for $29. It's oval. I think it's so you can set the chicken in there nice and purrrrty. I think I had a $10 coupon, so it sells for $39. It came with a dipper-size crock pot too. WTF am I supposed to do with that???

Those are nice if you're having a party and you have a dip you'd like to keep warm. I used them when I was selling Tastefully Simple and did big shows (like fairs), but have since given both of my little ones away b/c I didn't feel like storing them.

I guess that's why it's called "Little Dipper."
Dh thought it was "dorm size" and we could give it to my brother.
Yeah, we're pretty thick-skulled over here!

Thanks, guys! DH will kill me for obtaining yet another small appliance, but I have a feeling it'll come in handy -- can't wait to try Jenn's chicken!

Jenn's chicken is worth the price of admission. (But you've got to try the potatoes!)

Can someone just mail me a heaping serving of each? I don't have a crockpot or any of the necessary spices.
