  • Year of Wonders

This book is loosely based on a true story where a village quarrantined themselves during the plague epidemic.

It follows a servant for the local minister and his wife as the three of them nurse patients and deal with the crisis as member after member of the town is lost.

    It was an excellent read!

Really wonderful. I picked this up before my trip to NYC based soley on Sue Ann's suggestion. When I first started I was a bit worried b/c I'm not usually into truly period pieces, but after 2 or 3 chapters I was hooked. I started it on the first leg of my flight to NYC and finished it on the first leg heading home.

    Thanks Sue Ann!

I gave this book to my sister and my mom to read and both of them hated it and chastised me for giving them such a lame book. I still liked it

really?? how odd. Initially I did think 'great - puritanical England in the time of the plague! sounds great!', but since you'd reccomended it I kept going and really enjoyed it.

i loved how the relationship between Anna and Elinor evolved, and how Anna's confidence grew throughout the year. I really think it was a good book.
