  • Fluke by Christopher Moore

I'm not really sure how to describe this. I'll say it is about Nate, a marine biologist in Maui, who researches humpback whales. He sees a whale that has "BITE ME" written on its fluke. And then things get bizarre. That is the fun of it.

This was a fun read and a pleasant diversion. It would make a great beach or vacation book. DH is reading Bloodsucking Fiends, also by Christopher Moore and likes it.

I think someone posted a while back about Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff Christ's Childhood Pal -- this is the same author.

Lamb was hilarious. I liked Fluke - I've read one or two others of his and enjoyed them OK, though I still think Lamb is my favorite so far. Island of the Sequined Love Nuns was just...weird.

I haven't read Bloodsucking Fiends yet but DH has commented a few times "wow, I would have never imagined a plot like this." I'd say the same for Fluke. Someone is smoking a little sumthin sumthin.

I love Christopher Moore! His funky odd humor was a wonderful diversion when I needed something light, fresh and humorous to read.
I've read Blooksucking Fiends and You Suck, both of which are hysterical but You Suck is his best (that I've read anyway). The first line of You Suck says it all "You bitch, you killed me! You suck!"
I loved Fluke - in the beginning, then it got a little weird in the last half. Liked it overall, nonetheless.

I've been meaning to read Lamb and now I'm motivated to pick up at the bookstore! I've also read A Dirty Job, good too but my fav is definitely You Suck.
