  • The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

Has anyone read this? I don't normally read Oprah Book Club books, but I'd heard good things about it from other sources so I thought I'd give it a try.

I just finished it a few minutes ago and am still digesting it, can't really decide how I feel about it. It's beautifully written, and the storyline definitely grabbed my attention. (Don't read the inside cover of the book jacket, though ... it gives too much of the story away!) I need to think about it a little more, but am interested in whether others have read it and what you thought about it.

Yes, I'm responding to my own post.

I've had some time to digest and think about this book, and I thought the first 500 pages were FANTASTIC. I had trouble putting it down, the storyline was so compelling and I really enjoyed the author's writing style. However, the last 60-70 pages were a big disappointment compared with how much I loved the first 500 pages. I spent a few days thinking about the ending and how to reconcile it with the rest of the story, but it just felt unsatisfying and flat.

So, I guess I would say you should read just the first 500 pages and then make up your own ending.

I just got this from the library after waiting for months for it. Unfortunately, I am seriously wrapped up in the Twilight series so i hope I can get to it before it is due back.
