    Good Books for DH

    I am trying to find good books for DH for Xmas. Any ones that your spouses like. I know he likes Astrophysics, and usually all medicine books. So any ideas?

      The Placebo Chronicles is pretty funny as well. I know that DH hasn't really had time to read since med school - so this type of book is good for him!

        I liked Five Patients by Michael Crichton. It's not his best book, but it's five short stories about medical situations. Sort of like mini episodes of House.

          The Youngest Science is still my favorite medicine book. My DH liked The Knife Man as well; it is historical fiction about the man that started the practice of surgery in the 15th century. I'll have to think about the astrophysics!

            I bought DH Osler's Aequanimitas. I spent quite a bit of $$ because it was a first edition. DH collects old med books - actually I collect them for him. However, you can find third editions for a whole lot less.
            Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

              The current fall/winter edition of Lapham's Quarterly is devoted to medicine. It's a compendium of several historical and current texts, with lovely artwork. The literary and medical folks in our family have all been drooling over it.

                Any of the books by Oliver Sacks- they're all good. I got my husband Musicography or whatever it was called last year for Christmas.

                  I was going to say the same thing. I think DH has most of his books, he loves them, they are very easy reads.

                          Stiff: Curious Lives of Human Cadavers was interesting. I'm assuming he's already read Atul Gawande?
