Here are two interesting books

Ishmael and My Ishmael.
Kind of heavy reading material as it deals with the way humans have over time basically destroyed the resources on earth. I had to read it slowly and then think about what I'd read for several days before reading on as it was a lot to digest.

reminds me of a story I heard (possibly apocryphal) about L.Ron Hubbard and Robert Heinlein having a bet about who could write a book that would spawn a religion.....Hubbard then wrote Diuretics and Heinlein wrote Stranger in a Strange Land.
