I agree, the books are great to read. However:

    MAJOR SPOILERS:

I definitely agree that the ending should not be fairytale. I guess honestly did not believe that she would have had children. Through out all the books she does not want to raise her children in her world, and I don't think it had changed enough for her to have changed her mind. After all she went through, I doubt she would have the faith in humanity... But thats just cynical me. I do believe she would have spent the rest of her life with who she ended up with, just not procreating.

I feel like of all the characters, yes Haymitch did stay true to himself. Yes Katniss was 16, but I felt like she just changed completely in the third book. She was so strong and thought for herself in the first two books and all of a sudden she had a personality change? I guess its possible with all she went through, I just didn't believe she would have been THAT weak.

I just finished the last book today, but with a long gap between the first 2 and this one. I think Katniss's character falling apart seemed very credible to me. It was her unwavering strength that I found too hard to believe. She is only 17 when the book ends. I LIKE the fact that all of the characters have some major flaws. Haymitch's drinking, Gale's anger, her breakdown, Peeta's breakdown, they all seemed like very real responses to horrifying events.

I do think the end of 3 seemed rushed, like there was a publishing deadline to be met. I didn't like that there were days/weeks written off in just a paragraph or two. I understand the literary device, but I don't think it meshed coherently with the rest of the books.

Oh I never commented after I read them - I LOVED them. Can't wait to see how they make them into movies though I'm sure they won't be as good.

I also thought the end of the 3rd seemed disjointed but since they weren't published until after he died maybe that was just him.

I had to make myself finish book three. I hated it. It sucked. Yup, I dug up this old thread just to say that.

you know I hated it when I first read it, but after giving it time (and a few rereads) I actually am ok with it now.

It probably didn't help that I read this immediately after finishing Games of Thrones Book 2, which is just epic magnificent writing.

Right now I'm reading Seating Arrangements, a quick beach read, then I'm plunging back into Games of Thrones! Then I'll start reading the Uglies series, which I got from my teenage cousin. Yes, I borrow books from my teenage cousin. I really like reading series, anyone have any suggestions?

no shame in this.. Lately all I have been reading is teenage series. I am waiting for the third book of the YA series Divergent. Its not great, but it was interesting.

I bought book 1 for DH after his recent health scare (gotta baby him!) and you're making me want to steal it! He hasn't started it yet, but I won't be able to really dive in until Dec. That is a big book!

Book 3 of THG was our least favorite, too. I wasn't all that impressed.

You should watch the series on HBO first! So good.
