Since I have the attention span of a flea these days, I've been reading short story anthologies. Then my friend Claudia published her next set of short stories (and I mean MICRO stories- they're about two pages each) and I bought it on a whim. Holy Moly they are fantastic. They're the kind of emotional story that in two pages you need to stop because you need to digest what you just read.
Her name is Claudia Smith and her latest is available on Amazon among other places and it's called "Put your Head in My Lap" and I think it's 8 bucks or so. Those of you in the deep south could likely find them in your local (and I mean local not chain) book store.
Also, a lot of her stories deal with the demise of her marriage of which I was an unfortunate by-stander (her husband left the day of one of our parties and she came and hung out and put on her brave face which is utterly commendable- all because she promised her son that he could come swim in my son's pool w/ all of their school friends. and her husband was/is a putz, by the way.) She's now at Ole Miss, teaching literature and coming out with gorgeous short stories like these.
