I recently read both of these books and enjoyed them. The Devil Wears Prada is about an editorial assistant at a fashion magazine in New York and The Nanny Diaries is about a nanny in New York. I am from New York and so I enjoy reading these types of books, which are supposedly fiction but are very true to life. They are light and funny and good quick reading, not great works of literature but good stories.

I read it and sent it to my sister, who until recently was a nanny in NYC, as are many of her friends. She thought it was right on the mark as far as describing the "haves" of that city and their pretensions.
I was a nanny in the midwest, and it didn't really ring true for me at all. But I still really enjoyed the book!

My nanny friends have all been nannies in large metropolitan areas such as Dallas and Boston, so this book sounds very interesting to me. I'll put it on my list of "to-read"!Who uses a machete to cut through red tape

I recently read the Nanny Diaries...and agree that it's a quick read. Although I was engaged in the story, I had trouble with Nan. She came across as a wimp to me, continuously putting up with Mrs. X's crap. I know that she needed the money and was in it for Grayer's sake, I just thought she was pretty spineless at times.
