  • Griffin and Sabine trilogy

I got these books out on a recommendation somewhere below here.

Here is my impression: WTF??? :

Can someone please explain it to me??? It was cool reading, but geez, I'm left hanging and can't figure out which end is up. :!

I noticed on the last postcard it was of a baby, and the stamp from Paolo was of Griffin's goldfish postcard. Sabine also added "M" as her middle initial. Are they combined into one person? Are they real people? What gives?? I feel like I did after watching Mulholland Drive. I'm so confused...

    Yup....

there's actually a fourth one in the series that doesn't exactly shine the light, either, but it's equally compelling.

The Griffin and Sabine series were what sealed the deal for Rick and I- we both loved the series and had all three plus some other Nick Bantock books and when we discovered that about each other it was like "wow, someone else as freaky as me!!".

I loved the series and I reread them every so often. I'm not sure that there is a 'right' answer. Is Sabine imaginary? Where is this island? Are they two people destined to be together? I change my mind often and every time I read them and look at the art I find something new...

Sorry- no help whatsoever! but do find the fourth one. and check out some of his other stuff, too.

No help here either -- but I did read all three (and the fourth, The Gryphon, might that start a new trilogy?). I loved the should-I-read-someone-else's mail, love letters no less, feeling when initially opening the envelopes.

I also read and enjoyed The Venetian's Wife and The Forgetting Room. These books, like the others, aren't really grounded in any sort of reality or fact but still have the same mystery, sensuality, and surreal nature of the other books. (At least The Venetian's Wife does -- I am forgetting -ha- the plot of The Forgetting Room).

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Holy cow, that drove me nuts. I finished them late at night - it took a long time for me to fall asleep!

I've tried looking online for some clues but haven't had much luck yet. I also really loved the format...the artwork was so beautiful too. I also tried looking for The Gryphon but haven't found that yet either. I did ferret out The Venetian's wife, but haven't had time to read it yet. (see my rant post in the call room!)

Thanks for the help...I think the author should just break down and tell us what the heck he meant.

Jenn, that seems unusual that a guy would buy these books. That's so cool. I love it when Kevin and I enjoy the reading the same things.

          There's a 5th one!!

I was in Borders yesterday and there's a new one! I nearly bought it but decided that I didn't feel like hauling anything else from Minneapolis back to DC. I'll get it this weekend for sure.

And it says it's the last one...
