  • What are you reading now?

I just finished The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman - a great read if you liked The Red Tent

I'm currently reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. I feel so-so about it. It's my book club book for the month and I'm not keep on the writing, I just can't seem to get into it which is strange, because I really enjoyed The Help and The Kitchen House and it's along the same lines as those two.

I'm also reading 50 Shades of Grey which my girlfriend had on her kindle and put on my iPhone. It's not very well written, but so dirty that I can't put it down.

    My summer reading list is
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Before I go to Sleep by S Watson
When God was a Rabbit by Sarah Winman

    and about 10 other books

I am actually just rereading The Red Tent right now since my boss was cleaning out her bookshelf and its been years... I will have to check out the Dovekeepers.

I just read What Alice Forgot by Laine Moriarty. I was Eh about it but I know others have really enjoyed it.

Keep me updated on the books you read. I am always looking for something new to read.

I'm reading Nurture Shock. I just downloaded a sample of Nanny Returns (sequel to The Nanny Diaries), and I read that today. I think I'll get that to read next.

Has anyone read Wool? I read a review in last week's Entertainment Weekly, and it sounded interesting, but it didn't give many details. I downloaded a sample of it, but I haven't read it yet.

Just finished "The East, the West and Sex". Very good historical account of the interrelations of these cultures on the sexual front.

And I am reading "Matilda" with DS. Fun!

Currently reading the Gregor the Overlander series; YA, but a fun read. Also reading "Collapse", which is very interesting (by the same guy who wrote Guns, Germs, and Steel).

Ha, I don't even want to admit to what I'm reading right now. Lets just say I recently discovered smutty romance novels and the fact you can often get them for free on kindle.

Snow Flower was hard to read, due to the lack of actual plot events. Plot is just as important to develop as character, and the author was weak in that area.

Amy Tan is pretty good at both of these things, and has several books in the same vein as Lisa See, if you're interested.

I need to check out Dovekeepers. I enjoyed Red Tent a long while ago.

Currently reading: Anne Rice's new novel.
                      Just finished: Unholy Night.
Waiting on: SoFaI, Book 7 (the dragon one).

I'm reading a book my MIL gave me called: "Breasts - A natural and unnatural history". I like nonfiction and as a lactating mother, it's very interesting/terrifying.

Going to check out the Dovekeepers.

I picked up Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter the other day at the airport. Surprisingly decent read.

But I'm back on a Diana Gabaldon kick and am reading some of the Lord John Grey stories while waiting for the next in the Outlander series.
