  • What's the best self help book you've ever read?

I'll admit I'm a a bit of a self-help girl scout. By golly, there is an answer for everything, and with enough obssessive reading any problem can be fixed. I have a lot of self-help badges, and I'm currently working on my emotional health badge. I picked up a new book at a convenience store in during one of our many potty stops on a recent road trip. This book is changing my life. It's a must-read for everyone IMO. I've read a lot of books on emotional health, but this one brings them all into sharp focus. It's no nonsense, highly applicable and readable. I'm amazed that a random book from a (very clean) convenience store is having such a profound impact on my life. I had an ugly blow up with my mom during the trip. Our relationship could not be any more rickety. I've been trying to figure out where to take things from here and this book walked into my life. Everyone has difficult people in their lives (partners, family, kids, bosses, coworkers, etc.) so it's something that everyone can relate too. It's called "living successfully with screwed-up people" by Elizabeth Brown. It's packed with good stuff and worth the read if you find yourself struggling with any interpersonal relationships.

I thought I'd start a thread to see what other self-help books people though were worthy reads.

I haven't read a lot, so I'll go with "How to Win Friends and Influence People". My mom was teaching me stuff from that book before I could read, and when I finally read it in high school, it just clicked!
